Roel Dieltiens

Roel Dieltiens

The songs played on this site are part of the album Antonio Vivaldi - Cello Concertos (cover on the side). The brilliant performance of Roel Dieltiens and Ensemble Explorations offers us a unique travel experience through the masks of Arte di Venezia. My heartfelt thanks to Roel for giving me the rights to play the tracks from the album.

Barbara Quick

Based in the Wine Country of Northern California, poet and novelist Barbara Quick has a special affinity for the splendor, pageantry and history of Venice. La Serenissima provided the characters and setting for her acclaimed 2007 novel, Vivaldi's Virgins, which has been translated into 12 languages, is still in print and was brought out in 2020 as an audiobook. Vivaldi's Virgins tells the story of the 18th century musical prodigy Anna Maria dal Violin, a foundling of the cloistered Ospedale della Pietà, where Antonio Vivaldi was resident priest and composer.
